Welcome!
I'm so happy that you stumbled across my website! I'd like to start off by telling you a bit about myself. My name is Michelle Allan and I've been teaching primary school grades in classrooms around the world for 5 years. I graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 2015 and started my teaching career shortly there after.
When I'm not teaching, you can find me outside! Whether I'm hiking up mountains or laying by the beach I enjoy being in the outdoors and try to spend as much of my time there.
My first year teaching was in Cairo, Egypt at a B.C offshore school. I taught only 15 students in a third grade classroom yet it was my most challenging year as a teacher. I went with the intention of staying for just two years however stayed on a year longer as I fell in love with my school, my students and the Egyptian people. During those years abroad, I had the opportunity to see all parts of Europe and Africa. I didn't quiet feel ready to return home to Canada so I moved to Melbourne, Australia for a year. I taught in schools across the city as a temporary relief teacher. Being a relief teacher gave me freedom to travel around Australia and Asia as well as teach which I enjoyed very much.
I am now living in Vancouver and have been here since August of 2019. This past year I worked along side another teacher in a kindergarten classroom at Mulgrave School. I'm excited to return to Mulgrave in a new role as a Learning Support Assistant. I'm also currently enrolled in the Inclusive Education Graduate Diploma Program through Vancouver Island University.
